I'm still keen on Soup. But I was thinking also about Cos' little "stories from the suburbs" tag, and then I thought "blurb" - the burb blog. Of course, those of you with chi-chi accommodation in the inner suburbs might not like to think of yourselves that way. And Steven lives in Regional Australia.
We have this problem all the time at work, finding out names for things. I'm not sure exposure to the problem has given me special insight. Maybe tomorrow I'll tell you all why it's very important that you achieve a functional distinction between your CACs and your MCHs...
Do I even dare ask what a CAC or an MCH is? They sound like the twin spawns between the scientific acronyms for drugs (PCP) and a techie's fetish for TLAs. :)
If only. Worse than a techie's tla fixation is the policy creator's tla fixation. A CAC (and yes, it really is pronounced cack) is a Community Activity Centre. An MCH is a Maternal and Child Health * - frequently centre, sometimes nurse, sometimes funding agreement. What used to be called Infant Welfare, before welfare became uncool...
