A marrying of the ways

Libra has done a deal with bad christmas crackers and trivial pursuit.

For reasons known only to themselves (sans any form of advertising to presage this occasion), they now print trivia on the throwaway strip which covers the adhesive backing on their sanitary napkins.

I now know that on average, people press the snooze button 3 times before getting up. That the oldest piece of chewing gum is 3,000 years old. And that there's a word that names the fear of forgetting a word. (Of course, I've forgotten what that word is...)

I can only assume it was somehow cheaper to print this stuff out than it was to print it blank. Or do they peculiarly think that more women will buy their products after having shared about these little tidbits, perhaps envisaging a knitting-and-comparing-sanitary-product-disposable-rubbishy-bits session.

"Ohhhh, Mabel, how fascinating! I never knew that an ant can lift 300 times its own weight. I really must buy a packet of those for myself so I can read this trivia for myself. Now is it plain 1, purl 1, or knit 2 together?"

I remain bemused. And yet entertained, if not quite for the reasons the makers intended. ;)

Like I don't get dreamy and absent-minded enough in the toilet!

This is information overload.

VB Stubbies and Spring Valley Orange Juice bottles have trivia under the lids now, too.

Perhaps They(tm) think that people don't have enough to talk about, anymore?
