We frequently complain that the Government doesn't listen to us. It appears that in fact they do listen to us - a shade too literally and without us knowing. This article in the Australian reports on the increase in telephone surveillance by Government agencies over the past four years. It's interesting to see how small changes can produce big effects. In this case, a simple change in who could provide a phone tap warrant has more than tripled the number of warrants issued.
